Q: Should you host your WordPress blog with another server, not the WordPress one?

Yes.  So let me make a clarification for everybody.  There are two ways to create a WordPress blog.  The first way is by hosting it with WordPress themselves. This is not the preferred method of using WordPress.

The preferred method of using WordPress is to get your own hosting account that has what is called cPanel, and cPanel is a way to manage all of the different elements with your hosting account.  One of the features, inside of cPanel is a script called Fantastico.  This gives you the ability to install things like WordPress with one click of a button.  By doing this you don’t even have to download WordPress first, because your Fantastico has it included.

That is what I am recommending everybody do is have a WordPress blog that is hosted on your own server and you get WordPress absolutely free if your server has cPanel.
