Tracking Campaigns
Q: I currently have multiple campaigns all directing to one particular product and I’m looking to figure out which one is working best. I purchased some domains redirected them to the website. Is there any way I can track which campaign is working best? I am currently using 1ShoppingCartOnline if that helps.
Here is what I would advise you to do. Obviously you are familiar with how to redirect and that is great and I encourage you to continue to use that process because it makes it very, very easy for you to give out the URLs in your marketing efforts.
However, instead of redirecting it to your particular webpage, what I would do is setup a tracking link. You will want to put the tracking link in the redirection area and that tracking link would then redirect to your webpage. So, what happen is the URL redirects to the tracking link and the tracking says okay, this person is coming from this location and then it automatically sends them to the desired webpage that you have before. So, by putting in the tracking link, it now gives you the flexibility to be able to see exactly where those people are coming from or how many hits that particular URL is getting.
The good news is, this feature is already built right into 1ShoppingCartOnline. Once you log in, you will want to look at the tab “email and marketing” and then from there follow the drop down menu to “ad tracker”. That is where you can create a new ad tracker. It will ask you what you want to call this ad tracker or this campaign. My advice to you is to put the URL that you are redirecting. So, for example if your website is joesmith.com and you are using joesmith.net as a way to redirect, I would put joesmith.net in that campaign name just because it will help you identify what URL you are using for that ad tracker.
In your particular case in the destination URLs, you are only going to have one so do not worry about the fact that it gives you three. What you want to put in there is the actual and final webpage that you want people to land on.
