Well it really depends because the further out you send it, obviously the more people you are going to be able to reach. At the same time you can also lose people because they may be interested when you sent first an email but completely forget by the second time, so it really is a balance.

Generally, I like to recommend a two-week timeframe. So you want to start sending notifications or heads up, if you will, two weeks in advance. As you get closer to the date, the emails and the call to action to register get more intense.
