Profit From a Free Teleseminar
Q: What is the quickest and easiest way to turn a free teleseminar where I am not selling anything into a profit?
One of the strategies that I use is if I do a free teleseminar is I will have an up sell for people who want to buy the recordings and transcripts. Even if you do not want to provide the transcripts you can use a similar model that I do.
The model is they go to a registration page for a free teleseminar where they can listen to the call absolutely free if they dial in at that particular time. Then they are presented with an up sell offer that basically says, “If you would like the recordings and transcripts of this call then purchase here.” And then once they click there to purchase, it takes them to the order form, they put in their information to buy and away we go. It is just like a mini sales letter.
However, if they do not want it, they just get taken directly to the thank you page to say what they have been taken to anyway. I call it an up sell page. So they go from the opt-in page to the up sell page that says, “Hey, do you want the recordings at this price?” if they click Yes, they go to your order form in order to pay. If they click No, they go directly to the thank you page.
Even on the thank you page, I would still probably have information about how they can get the recordings, and during the free call itself I would also talk about where they can go to purchase the recordings. So you are really hitting them three different times with opportunities to buy the recordings.
Typically what I do is follow the model where I give people who buy early the advantage of a discount, so if they buy early they are going to get it cheaper and then after the call, the price goes up. I would definitely put a statement telling them that the price is going to go up because it creates a natural sense of urgency. It gives them a good reason to buy now versus waiting around later on. So definitely put some copy on the up sell page that talks about the fact that the price is going to go up once the call is finished so the best time to buy is right now.
