Linking WordPress to Your Main Site
Q: My regular website gets 50,000 visits a year and now I have the new one and it is on WordPress. I was thinking about linking one to the other to send traffic because I do not want to mess up search engine optimization because I do come up on page one in the Google Search for a lot of my keywords. So when I link it, would it just be a straight message that says go here or would I want to put a hot link and would the hot link mess up the optimization of my main Yahoo site?
No, it will not mess up the main optimization of your Yahoo site, but what I would do is have the name of your blog and then link those keywords. The name of the actual blog is what I would hyperlink to your actual blog. I would take for example, the name of my blog is Marketing Ideas and Insights, so I would hyperlink that to http://www.myideaguy.com/blog. In that way, the next time the search engines go through your site, they are going to crawl it and they are going to see that link to your blog and then they are going to your blog and investigate what that is all about.
