Q: I have had my current list for the past three years and it has several thousand members. The problem is, I have not been real happy with my current autoresponder service. I also use 1ShoppingCartOnline and have been growing up a smaller list through them and am very happy with their service. I am just wondering how to integrate these two lists so they are both on 1ShoppingCartOnline?

First let me address a couple of things for you. No matter what service you are looking to use, if you are wanting to import a bunch of names, there are going to be guidelines and rules. The reason being is because of the “CAN-SPAM Act”. They do not allow you to upload a massive amount of names because they want to ensure that those people have actually requested your information.

However, with that being said, it is a fairly easy process because it boils down to having all of your names and email addresses of all the people on your old list and putting it into an Excel spreadsheet, and then inside 1ShoppingCartOnline, you can actually upload that entire Excel spreadsheet and you could say I want all these people to be subscribed to these autoresponder sequence. And so it is a fairly smooth transition to take all of your names from one location to the other.

One thing that I do recommend in 1ShoppingCartOnline is a service they have where you can purchase a dedicated IP address. This basically means that the only email being sent from that particular server or IP address is yours.

The reason that is an advantage is because with the traditional model of 1ShoppingCartOnline everybody’s email is being sent from the same server. So if one person is spamming, then everybody gets in trouble. When you have a dedicated IP or dedicated server, it is only you sending email from that server so you don’t ever have to worry about that. Now, is it more expensive? Yes. Does it help protect you in the beginning? Absolutely.
