How Many Messages Should You Use to Convert From Opt-in to Sale?
Q: How many autoresponder messages do you recommend we use in order to convert opt-in into buyers?
Well it is a deduction process though it really there is no set stone number of emails. It depends on how you are using the autoresponder. If you have no time deadline so that it does not matter when people come into your sequence and you are just looking to slowly convert them or quickly convert them into buyers, you really want to look to try to use your autoresponder sequence to make the decision as the sales process as easy as possible.
I typically like between three and five messages, and they increase in terms of their intensity focusing on the sale as time goes on. So the beginnings ones are not buy, buy, and buy. They are focusing on building the relationship and establishing; one, that I have credibility, two, that I can add value, three, that I can help them in their particular or for whatever particular solution they are looking for.
So the initial messages you are looking to build the relationship and then as time go on, you are looking to increase that intensity. Now with that being said, one of the things that I am going back and doing in my autoresponders now is creating almost campaign of autoresponder messages because the great thing about autoresponders is they work for you 24 hours a day seven days a week and they continually send information to every new person that signs up. It is the best thing, best tool ever for any types of business because it completely automating your sales process.
So one of the things that I am doing is I am going back and I am looking at creating campaign which would be series of messages that are either three to five messages long, and what happens is in each campaign, it does exactly what I am talking about. The first message of the campaign is introducing a new idea, a new concept and building rapport and giving value and so forth and then they increase in intensity with a focus of selling one particular product and at the end of the campaign, the next message to start is the beginning of another campaign if that made sense.
So like right now in my autoresponder sequence, I have messages that go out up to, I think it is like almost 300 days. So I almost have a full years’ worth of messages that go out to people. So now I am going to go back and I am going to rework those messages so that they are more focused as far as campaign. There is a sequence as far as number of messages focusing on the same product and then it restarts into another campaign afterwards because right now I have a whole bunch of messages and they are not really tied to each other and so that kind of disjoint it as far as there are just different messages and they have different focuses, and I want to kind of tie this together in those campaign because I think it will increase conversion and it will help the flow of that particular process.
