Getting People Live on a Teleseminar

Q: I have a podcast that I co-host. We have been doing for about six months teleseminars, and then turning them into podcasts. We have kind of spoiled our list. We do all free calls and they instantly get the replay after the call and we want to stop doing that because people haven’t been attending the calls live. We were thinking of doing something to get people on the call live. What is the best way to do something like a money giveaway live? Do you have any advice about anything else?

The bottom line is in order to get people to show up live, you have got to give them a reason to show up and you are right in the sense that you want to have some kind of bait in order to entice people to show up. The other thing that I would look to do is see if there is a way that you can create something whether it be a document or a follow up or something that you can provide to people that are there live and you are going to give it away on the call to everyone.

So everyone benefits by dialing in and then you also if you give away something. Ideally, it would be some type of a digital product and then you are going to give them the URL that they go to in order to access that product live on the call. So you are using something that does not cost you anything to deliver but it is something of value.

Now, here is some example that I have used in the past. One of the things that I have done before is I have given away a reference guide of all the links and URLs that were mentioned throughout the entire call so that was something of value. People wanted that. The other thing I have done is mind maps or checklists. These are all great things that people love to have because it makes consuming your information easier.

The other thing I have done is offer additional bonuses like additional calls, recordings, transcripts, eBooks or something of that nature. Another thing you can think about is if you are partnering up with different people, ask them if they have any bonuses that they would like to give away to the whole audience?

It does not always have to come from you. It could come from them as well so it kind of relieves some pressure that way. The key is look to see if you can create or find additional bonuses that you could give to everybody and the only way they would get them is by showing up live. The way you could position that is, “During tonight’s call, we will be giving away a variety of different bonuses valued at $XYZ and this will be given only to people who attend live so you want to make sure you dial in and listen to us live and here is the information. Those who listened to the recording afterwards, will get great value from the content but will not get the extra bonuses. That, again, will only be given to everybody dialed in live. Go here and make sure you dial in at the appropriate time.”

A give away for everybody is going to keep everybody interested and if you have got a lot of people on the call, you want to eliminate the skepticism of, “Oh, I am never going to win with all these people,” but at least, when you have given something away, everybody benefits.
