Building Your List From The General Public
Q: I have had lots of success using joint ventures strategies where I hold a teleseminar and people use my optin forms to build my list. Beyond the joint venture strategy, how do I go out to the general public and build my list so that has high conversion rates? I have had tremendously high conversion rates with my JV partners.
I would start looking online to find out where your target market is hanging out, what materials are they reading, what blogs are they going to, who are they looking to seek this type of advice from right now. Then you want to get in front of those people.
I would make a list of keywords related to your products and services and then I would look to take that keyword list and add things like + eBook, + eZine, + newsletter, + article, + forum, + group, + discussion group, + seminar. Then what is going to happen is you are going to see all kinds of websites that are going to come up that you could easily partner with. What I mean by that is by contact them not necessarily to create a product with but perhaps to do a teleseminar, perhaps to write articles for their ezines, perhaps to write articles to their blogs or what have you.
There are many, many ways to drive traffic. Your JV partnership is a great example of the quality of the traffic. The higher the quality, the better the conversion, and with JV partners, typically the quality of that traffic is going to be much higher because they are farming the people from that list to be able to receive and be open to your particular messages before they even come to you and that is why you are seeing a much higher conversion with that. So just know that it starts small and grows from that point forward. You are not going to get thousands and thousands of people jumping on your list automatically, but it is a process and it grows and grows.
At the same time my calls were on a lot of different yet related topics and I was building a list of people who are interested in topic A or listing the people who are interested in topic B and D and so forth. Then what happened was I was then able to see where there was the most interest because it became very apparent that a lot more people wanted to learn about a certain subject matter than they did on another subject matter. So I was able to identify which specific topics people wanted to learn about.
